ONLY CRIMINALS CRITICIZE THE CONSTRUCTION OF POLICE STATION —CHIDI LLOYD

— Says He Has Built The Best Police Outstation in Rivers State

— As Police IG Commissions Emohua Police Divisional Headquarters Building

As the harvest of projects undertaken by Emohua local government council enters the second week, the council chairman, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to sustaining the prevalent peace and security in the area through collaboration and the provision of necessary infrastructure and logistics support to the Nigerian police and other security agencies in the area.

He noted that security remains the foundation of development in society, stressing that no amount was too big to invest in the provision of infrastructure for security agencies in the LGA, emphasizing that his administration places a premium on security, for the overall development of the area.

Dr. Lloyd stated this at the commissioning of the Emohua police divisional headquarters building undertaken by his administration on Wednesday.

He said it is only a criminal who will criticize the construction of a police station and other investments aimed at improving security in the local government area, and he commended the Inspector General of Police for approving two additional police divisional headquarters in Emohua LGA.

He noted that the Emohua police divisional headquarters building was already rated the best police outstation across Rivers State, stressing that the people of the area deserve the best; hence, his administration will continue to provide the best infrastructure for the people.

According to the council chairman, the construction of the Emohua police divisional headquarters building followed a gubernatorial directive by the immediate past Rivers State Governor, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, during the commissioning of the Emohua Satellite Campus of the Rivers State University in 2022.

The facility, which is situated opposite the university campus, is aimed at providing security within the school community, the local government headquarters, and its environs, as well as the formally troubled Emohua-Kalabari road.

The council chairman noted that the approved police divisional headquarters in Emohua, the headquarters of the LGA, and Elele-Alimini are in line with his administration’s commitment to responsive crime fighting and effective policing in the local government area.

He commended members of the local government legislative assembly for their support, attributing the achievements of his administration to the cordial relationship between the executive and the legislative arms of Emohua local government.

He also noted that all projects undertaken by his administration followed laid down rules, stressing that he had never expended the council fund without proper appropriation and approval of the legislative arm.

Dr. Lloyd also commended the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, for his support and encouragement towards the realization of the police station project, as well as his commitment to the security of lives and properties in the area.

He also congratulated CP Olatunji Disu on the successful neutralization of the Ahoada criminal gang leader, Gift Okpara, a.k.a. 2Baba, who was declared wanted for the death of the Ahoada divisional police officer, DPO Bako Amgbanshin, and for terrorizing the Ahoada axis of Rivers State.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun in his address before commissioning the Emohua police divisional headquarters building, expressed gratitude to Dr. Lloyd for providing a befitting edifice for the police force, assuring that the police force was going to ensure that the facility is maintained, to serve the purpose for which it was built.

Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16, AIG Paul Alifa Omata, the Police IG assured that the facility will be utilized to ensure that crime and criminality in the area are brought to the barest minimum.

The IGP also congratulated the Rivers police commissioner on his achievements in crime fighting in Rivers State, especially the recent news of the death of the wanted Ahoada criminal gang leader, Gift Okpara, a.k.a. 2Baba, who was accused of being responsible for the killing of DPO Bado Amgbanshim, who until his death was the DPO in charge of Ahoada division.

He further thanked the people of Emohua LGA for their hospitality to police personnel posted to the area, while urging the people to continue to support the police with relevant information that will aid their operations in the area.

In a brief interview with newsmen, the Rivers police commissioner, CP Olatunji Disu, commended Dr. Lloyd for his untiring commitment to sustaining the prevalent peace and security in Emohua LGA.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the building donated to the Nigerian police by the Emohua local government, assuring that the edifice will provide the necessary comfort for the police personnel that will be posted to the area, to perform the job of protecting life and property.

He also noted that the Emohua police divisional headquarters building was strategically situated to enhance security along the Emohua-Kalabari road.

CP Olatunji Disu thanked the people of Rivers State for their support and cooperation, especially in the area of information gathering, which he said has greatly helped the police in crime fighting.

In his project description, the honorable supervisor of works, Hon. Ikpo Solomon, said the facility is powered by an independent power plant with solar-powered street lights around the building.

He noted that the construction of the facility is a continuation of the unprecedented infrastructure revolution witnessed across Emohua LGA under the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd.

Prominent among dignitaries at the event are the member representing Emohua constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Justina Emeji; the honorable commissioner for special projects in Rivers State, Chief Emeka Wike; and the chairmen of Port Harcourt, Ahoada-East, and Degema LGAs, Sir Allwell Ihunda, Barr Ben Eke, and Hon. Michael John Williams, respectively.

The leader of PDP caucus in Emohua LGA, Eze Paul Wonodi; the State Youth Leader of PDP, Hon Ikpechi Oriji; and the deputy chairman of PDP in Emohua LGA, Dr. Jim Morrison, led other members of the party’s caucus to the event

The vice chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Nlerum Okogbule, was accompanied by the management staff of the university; traditional rulers, religious leaders, critical stakeholders, and senior police officers also honored the epoch-making event.

Dr. Lloyd was accompanied by his wife, Lady Divine Adanma Chidi-Lloyd; the vice chairman of the LGA, Hon. Mrs. Edna Nyeche Addis; members of the local government legislative assembly; and the management committee of the local government council.

The highlight of the event was the formal handover of the keys to the Emohua Police divisional headquarters building to the Nigeria Police Force.
